So, while I’ve been writing and publishing in many forms for many years, and also teaching writing both as an academic endeavor and for creative purposes, I’ve put off starting a site for writing and writers.

That is now in the past with the launch of UnleashTheWriterWithinYou.com

I’m tired of watching people struggle, or worse, not even try, to write because of their fear and misunderstanding of the writing process.

I’m going to be sharing a lot of useful, practical information about generating ideas, getting your thoughts onto the paper/page (okay, I use a notebook, real paper, for a few things still, but mostly I write on my computer like 99% of the rest of the world)

First off then, a couple of thoughts on writing.

Yes, good, solid writing is a skill, and a process, and it can be learned, and practiced, and if you are willing to do the exercises you will see improvements. I promise.

Good writing is not difficult. The work comes in the preparation, much like preparing a good meal. If you know what the menu is going to be, get your ingredients in order, have a good plan for creating your meal, presenting it, and it is properly set up for the right guests, then the actual ‘cooking’ is a lot of fun as you see things beginning to come together.

You, yes, you, have some things to say, to share, and there are people who want to have that information. No matter what your field is, no matter who has already written about it, there is always room for another voice, another take. We don’t all learn, listen, or even hear in the same way, so sometimes your particular presentation of information may very well be the ‘right voice’ or ‘wording’ that was needed to get the message across, and understood.

So, get your writing caps on, and let’s get started, shall we?
